Walsh: Don’t Miss Out on These Upcoming Events

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-Luzerne) is hosting several upcoming events for residents throughout the 117th Legislative District.
“I have various events coming up that will assist residents with licensing their dogs, recycling old documents or electronics, avoiding ‘romance’ scams, and learning more about their Second Amendment rights in Pennsylvania,” said Walsh. “I enjoy providing these events and having the opportunity to talk with attendees about the state issues most important to them.”
Upcoming events include:
• PA Hunter/Trapper Education Class - Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PA Game Commission Northeast Regional Office, 3917 Memorial Hwy. in Dallas. Lunch and drinks will be provided. This is a required class for all first-time hunters and trappers age 11 and older. Please RSVP at RepWalsh.com/events or call the Sugarloaf district office at 570-359-2138.
• Dog Licensing Event - Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at Walsh’s Sugarloaf district office at 669 State Route 93, Suite 3. Dog owners may choose to purchase single-year licenses or a lifetime license. To purchase a lifetime license, the dog must have some form of permanent identification, such as a microchip or tattoo. The owner will need a lifetime license application and the permanent identification verification (PIV) form to receive a lifetime license. Single-year licenses cost $10.80, while lifetime licenses cost $52.80. Senior citizens or people with disabilities may purchase a single-year license for $8.80 or a lifetime license for $36.80. Only cash, check or money order will be accepted for payment; NO credit cards.
• Romance Scam Prevention - Friday, April 17, at noon at Meadows Manor Community Room, 200 Lake St. in Dallas. Lunch will be provided starting at 11:30 a.m. This event will be co-hosted with Rep. Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne), and will help educate individuals on scams that use the illusion of a romantic or close relationship to manipulate and/or steal from the victim. • Shredding and E-Recycling Event - Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Butler Township Community Park, North Old Turnpike Road in Drums. This is an opportunity to dispose of paper documents containing personal, financial and medical information, as well as hard-to-recycle electronics. • Concealed Carry Seminar - Wednesday, April 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the White Haven Area Community Library, 121 Towanda St. in White Haven. Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce will discuss the latest information about Pennsylvania’s firearms laws, including the state’s Castle Doctrine, and the process our gun owners need to follow to obtain a permit.
